Isley turned 10!! What better way to celebrate than with her current favorite Boba Tea! But first, PANCAKES! I’ve been making them birthday pancakes since their 1st birthdays. The birthday girl gets the age, and the sister gets something of their current interest. At this time, Em was interested in Billie Eilish.

Isley’s 10th birthday ended up being the next friend party at our house.
Chris and I knew that we were going to have a 1st birthday party and a 5th birthday party for our girls with their friends but hadn’t quite determined when we’d have the next. Other than Isley’s 9th birthday that we had at a cooking school, all of the birthdays in between were spent with family and cousins; those were fun, stress free and easy.
So when Isley said she wanted a party, I did panic a bit thinking can I pull this off by myself? We were never fans of the packaged birthdays. It seemed that parties held at trampoline parks, skating rinks and bowling alleys had just been over done. We had been invited time and time again to those very same parties. We just always wanted something different. Chris and I had so much fun DIYing Emerson’s 1st and 5th and Isley’s 1st and 5th and they did take a lot of time, but they were so worth it. Eventually I decided, I’m just going to do it.
We Don’t Do Normal
I had to think outside of the box again when it came to a theme. Two things that my girls were so into as of late were ramen and Boba. So somehow the theme Bubbles and boba popped into my head and I just went with it.

I had no real idea of how to implement this so I just jumped on Amazon and searched boba and bubbles. My thoughts were, just order any bubble related thing. I ordered these cute clear balloon things that looked like bubbles, I ordered wall stickies that looked like bubbles, I decided that I’d have bubbles as the centerpieces on the tables. I ordered boba tea kits just so that we could get an idea of how we wanted to implement the boba element. This was a fun and tasty task.

When I learned that we could order popping boba in multiple colors, that is ultimately what we decided to do.

Bubbling Over With Excitement
I purchased a cute light up boba sign, to give the decor some extra pop!! I’m still tickled that my girls obsession with boba tea ended up being our party theme!

And of course what we could make, we made.

This turned into the sign that we hung on the mirror.

The tables were decorated with bubbles and bubble wands

Bubbles of All Sorts

Isley and I made a bunch of cute little party treats to add to the fun and colors. Rice crispy treats dipped into pink chocolate was simple. We made blue raspberry jello, and stuffed pink cotton candy into individual cups, for little hands to grab.

Strawberry and blue raspberry popcorn were added to cute little plastic bowls. We wanted the kiddos to have fun colorful treats when they arrived.

The party treats were on display right as you walked into the front door.

It was quite a presentation. One of my favorite parts were the “bubbles” hanging from the ceiling.

Isley designed a quick rough sketch of the cake she wanted, which was super cute.

The cake designer did a pretty great job bringing the cake idea to life.

After enjoying the fun treats they played yard games out in the backyard

And after that they headed to the front for a bubbly, foamy fun time.

Isley had an absolute blast.

And if I didn’t mention it. Isley’s wonderful auntie (my sister) who is ALWAYS supporting anything that I do, she did the chalkboard. She always designs chalkboards for my girls parties. She’s in the thick of all of my planning process and helps make it come to fruition. Together we giggle and slowly lose our sanity.

I have to say, I am SUPER proud of myself. My husband and I were such a force when it came to our girls. Pulling this party off without him was such an accomplishment for me. He’d be entirely impressed but not at all surprised. He was my biggest cheerleader, and made it known. It’s easy to feel unseen, especially when your ‘hype man’ isn’t there to make you pause and reflect, or pat you on the back. Widowhood is surely a world where you can feel invisible. However, I’ve had to learn and I am still learning to just be grateful that it worked out, accolades be damned. I know Chris is aware, and I know my girls had a great time.
