*Have a preteen? I do! And it was time that it be made known, in her bedroom that is. It was time for a tween bedroom makeover.
Looking for tween bedroom ideas happened when I realized that my sweet girl was still hanging out in the room the exact way that it was before we even had her! I don’t think she had any issues with the room because it was in her favorite family of colors (purple-ish), more of a plum to be exact. One day I decided that we needed a change, and she was on board.
When we bought our house this particular room was clearly not poised for girl, nor was it a tween bedroom.
Now, when I saw this bedroom wall I had no earthly idea what Who Dey even meant. I can’t even tell you when I finally learned what it was. I think all my husband saw was football. Speaking of football, this little theme continued on another wall.
I admit, it’s kind of a cute idea for a kids room. The beautiful mismatched broken blinds they left behind were also a great selling point!
And to finalize it all, what is a football room without a 50 yard line? And scribbles?

So there you have it. Might I add, these blurry images were taken in 2008. Sorry to say, my photography skills have not gotten much better, and my occasional laziness prevents me from going to apps to correct it. Sad I know.
Tween Bedroom Ideas That Transform a Room
Once we found the time to do anything with this room, we first had to pick a color. We chose a plum color that was a part of Sherwin Williams many color collections that I cannot recall. And it stayed that color until very recently. The bedroom has gone through quite a bit of iterations
My little helper showed up as always to put down painters tape and sand the molding
I primed the walls, taped them accordingly and began to paint
We decided to paint one door blue and leave the other white.
We replaced an old marked up and broken black dresser that we’ve had since well before the kiddos were born.
And replaced it with a bright white dresser that I actually got brand new from an auction site for $100! I am all about a deal.

I removed an old desk and replaced it with a desk that mounts to the wall and allows for open floor space. I think that the wall mounted desk makes perfect sense and allows the room to feel a little less crowded.
Once I got the brackets mounted after struggling MIGHTILY with getting an anchor in the wall, the desk was finally mounted. Not having the manpower that I had when my husband was here has truly been a challenge, yet somehow I prevail. After the desk was hung, my little helper assisted so that I could see how a corner shelf that I purchased from Ikea would look in the space next to it.
I added the remaining shelves and secured the fixture to the wall. Afterwards I added a floor lamp from ikea and a cozy corner lounge chair and a fluffy rug we were done!
