*If there’s a disorganized area in your kitchen, the pantry is probably it!
Have you ever been constantly annoyed by something that you had to look at every single day? It’s so easy to just overlook things like this because the lack of aesthetic appeal can be so daunting.
Its easy for this to be a theme in a lot of homes, whether its a junk drawer, a coat closet, a laundry room. It’s usually those places that are poised to collect things that tend to be the culprit.
Those places have the added benefit of having a drawer or a door that allow to you temporarily forget it…until you have to unfortunately open it again which just happens to be all throughout every single day.
This post is about how to turn an unsightly small kitchen pantry into something that you don’t mind looking at everyday
Take a look at this beautiful pantry
Isn’t it lovely, in all of its blurry disorganized glory? It’s like the blurriness is a filter the pantry put on in shame, to hide its true colors. And how about that mop flanking it. Just another gem of kitchen beauty!
I mean seriously, can you say hodge podge? In what world do vases and cake stands go with a random foray of dry goods? The answer is IN NO WORLD, in no world should that ever exist. And look at the top row, Halloween buckets and Fall foliage. I’m winning all kinds of nonsensical awards with this one.
And lets not forget the prettiest part of this small kitchen pantry. The wire shelves. Nothing about these shelves appeal to me. When builders make builder grade homes, they truly take the cheapest route. Now…with that being said, I usually do as well. Only I execute it just a bit better than this. Now to transform this particular pantry, its so small that it doesn’t take much. There’s no need to pull out all of the items presently in the pantry, because I’d have a counter full of mess and who wants to see that? We’ll just skip to the shelves. Remember when I said sometimes I also take the cheap route? There’s a clever little trick to covering up these wire shelves….NO WIRE SHELVES!!! Its crucial, just like no wire hangers. They’ve got to go!
It only takes a few items to turn those unsightly wire shelves into something that you don’t mind seeing everyday. You just need two simple things: Foam board and easyliner.
Once you have those items its a pretty simple process. You simply measure the shelf space in your pantry, use an X-acto knife to cut your foam board to size, then you lay the board on top of the backside of the easy liner and also cut that to size.
Repeat this process over again until you’ve made enough for each shelf. Next, purchase some cute baskets from your favorite store. I got the below wicker basket from At Home.
And I purchased these Better Homes and Gardens canisters from Walmart
In addition to those items, I purchased a holder to hold bottles of water, and a 4 drawer dresser, both from At Home to house additional items. And here is the final result!!
You can even use the inside of the wall to hide and store other random items such as funnels and smores skewers
