*Want to know how to organize spices? It’s so simple. JUST ORDER THE MATCHING JARS.
*This post will enlighten you on just how necessary it is to organize spices, especially when they are completely out of control
It’s interesting how much we learn from our parents, our childhood homes. It seemed like second nature the moment that I saw the skinny little cabinet near the stove. I knew what was going to live there immediately, spices and other random small things.
Cabinet Chaos
Can you feel my heartbeat starting to beat fast?? Oh the anxiety! This is just stupid. This was not what I intended. Why do I have four sets of cupcake cups in there? And do you see the coffee crumbs? I guess they’re just sprinkling down from the shelf above.
What’s funny, is that in all of my prior homes (apartments) I followed the same process. And naturally, when it came time to cook something I was fumbling around trying to see the spice behind the other spice, while the spice next to that spice fell out of the cabinet. SOOO Annoying! Ultimately I’d determine that I must not have the spice that I’m looking for, so I’d go and buy it; only to later realize that I had it all along. The spice was lost, hidden amongst the other spices never to be seen again.
I dealt with this situation for way too long because literally everything in the house seems to be another project to do. Some things simply have to wait, even if waiting takes years! I did finally make a change though. I don’t need to buy anything new and fancy to organize my spices. As long as they’re not all hidden behind each other I should be good. So I removed all of the spices from that unorganized skinny cabinet and relocated them to a drawer!
Organize Spices
Well take a look at that! I did it…sorta. I am able to read the labels at least. Nothing can fall out.
Oh, but look how well its developed. Look at this success! All of the spices don’t fit because there’s a variety of sizes. And what happened to reading the labels? The bottles rolled over…that’s what happened.
So this fail, has caused me to make a change. A change that I’ve been avoiding because I’m frugal and always looking for a cheaper way. We see how well that worked out above. Enter…the fix!! Enter Amazon, because well Amazon fixes a lot of things.
I finally did it. I ordered the absolute #1 solution to organize spices, matching jars! And a bonus…they’re square. No more rolling over. They come with white labels, black labels, front labels and top labels, which is so convenient depending on how you plan to organize. Next step, clean out the drawer. The spilled spices is another reason why the snap tab spice containers are not the best option, at least in my case. They clearly popped open.
So once all of the jars were washed and dried, it was time to do the fun stuff.
If you could understand how the order and cleanliness of this scenario is making my happy heart jump up and down!!!! I am so excited that I finally took this step. They even included a cute little funnel just in case you don’t already have one.
And be sure that you use the labels for the spices that you actually use. All of these spices were completely full. I must have purchased them for a specific recipe, never to be used again. And you know why I have 3 Cumins? Probably because they were hidden behind each other in the cabinet.
The result of making such a necessary change was entirely worth it. It’s prettier and the chaos is gone.
Don’t they look so lovely and uniform!? I can keep them this way for beauty sake if I’d like, but if the goal is to also be efficient with my space, I can simply stand them up!
I added the top label as well just in case, and that allows for me to have half of the drawer leftover to be used for more spices or other similar items.
So when you’re ready to organize spices, I highly recommend the Churboro square seasoning bottles. You won’t be disappointed.
