This is another birthday party blast from the past that I wanted to write about. I just wasn’t one of those moms who was able to blog and parent. Just wasn’t me. So the blog that I had at the time that I loved, had to take a back seat to the family that I loved even more. I did however capture all of our girls wonderment and this party was part of that. Just like Em’s 1st that I wrote about here, this was also a labor of love and so much fun to plan. I knew before I had the girls that I’d want their birthday party themes to be Cute As A Button & Sweet As Pie. So since Ise was second, her party theme was Isley’s Sweet as Pie & Ice Cream Shoppe.

I kind of wish I was still actively blogging back then. If so I might have worked a bit harder on the lighting and the photos overall. I loved the blue, red and yellow color scheme that I chose, and the round invitations that we came up with. I had the idea and Chris had the know how and created them. He was so creative, and at the time we hadn’t seen anything like it.

Isn’t it just the cutest?!!! I have to say Chris and I were very DIY for this party as well. The idea of using the crop-a-dile punch came from when he and I DIY’d our wedding decor. We made fans and they were equally impressive. I’m kinda glad I decided to write about this. It’s taking me back to such fun times in our life. So much fun!!

What we wanted to do to stay on theme for this unique first birthday party was make sure that everything was pie like. So what party food meets that criteria? Pizza Pies of course. Such an easy and on brand option for the theme.

I Scream You Scream We All Scream for Ice Cream
And do you see those parfaits on the table? They are part of the ice cream shoppe of course. To make those I went to Goodwill and found candles in parfait glasses that just so happened to be the exact colors that I needed. It was so meant to be! I added cotton balls to the top and inserted a little striped straw. Simply perfect.

We made number 1 suckers using chocolate and a candy mold and made ice cream cones with cupcake mix and icing!!

This next decor item doesn’t quite translate well in this pic. Had I thought that I might one day blog about this I really would have photographed better. And I thought this was so clever! So, if you cannot tell, I used pie tins to make “pie” wall decor. The top of the tin is shiny red poster board and it’s crisscrossed with light brown ribbon to imitate pie crust. They were actually super cute in person.

And speaking of pie, take a look at the most important pie, her birthday “cake”

I was in awe when we received our cake. We knew what we wanted but to actually see it completed was such a surprise. A cake designed as a pie…who knew! And of course there’s the smash cake behind that, that I made

One of the best features of our Sweet as Pie & Ice Cream Shoppe party was the awning. I said babe, it would be so cool if we could have like an old fashioned looking awning. And because he was who he was, he made it happen. He built it and I was tickled pink!! He could literally do anything and was so accommodating and selfless.

Everyone loved the idea of sampling several kinds of pies. If I’m recalling accurately, I believe we purchased them from Just Pies. I made little labels to identify each pie so that there would be no confusion.
Some final features were the birthday boards of course. We captured several of her major milestones and also took weekly pictures from birth to age 1. What I did not add to this post are her monthly photos. We took posted monthly photos and had all 12 of them hung up on our 20 foot wall.
52 Weeks of Perfection

Another 1st year birthday in the books…blessed.
